I am a proud member of Tacoma North Rotary. One of our current international service projects is providing fresh water for the people in Uganda. We are doing this in conjunction with COFIA (Circle Of Friends in Action). Currently 61% of Ugandans lack access to safe water and 75% do not have access to improved sanitation facilities. Tacoma North Rotary Club, along with COFIA and others have raised funds for two water wells in #Uganda In addition, we are working to develop a farming system helping to provide locally grown food for consumption and to generate revenue the local population. We have drilled two new wells providing fresh water for over two thousand people, and some of the water will be used for irrigation on the farm. Phase one is complete. The wells will serve children and families in an area where access to clean water is often miles from home. Rotary is more than a meeting, it is a mission to benefit the lives of people. Thank you to our generous members and supporters who are making a difference! #rotary #makingadifference #worldwaterday #wwd2018

"No Straw" Initiative

Recently our Club members and guests learned more about the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium "No Straw" initiative. Plastic drinking straws are one of the major polluters degrading our waterways and oceans.  Suzanne showed us ways we can help keep plastics out of our waterways and how conservation can be fun! Club members will be inviting Shenanigans to join the No Straw initiative by eliminating straws from our meetings. All are welcome at our weekly meetings. Stop on by Tuesdays at noon at Shenanigans. #rotary #rotary5020#makingadifference
