World Water Day, March 22 each year, is about focusing attention on the importance of clean #water. World-wide, about 159 million people still use surface water, and approximately two thirds live in sub-Saharan Africa. Currently 61% of Ugandans lack access to safe water and 75% do not have access to improved sanitation facilities. Tacoma North Rotary Club, along with Circle of Friends In Action (COFIA) and others have raised funds for two water wells in #Uganda to be completed in the next two months. The wells will serve children and families in an area where access to clean water is often miles from home. Thank you to our generous members and supporters who are making a difference! #rotary #makingadifference #worldwaterday #wwd2018

"No Straw" Initiative

Recently our Club members and guests learned more about the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium "No Straw" initiative. Plastic drinking straws are one of the major polluters degrading our waterways and oceans.  Suzanne showed us ways we can help keep plastics out of our waterways and how conservation can be fun! Club members will be inviting Shenanigans to join the No Straw initiative by eliminating straws from our meetings. All are welcome at our weekly meetings. Stop on by Tuesdays at noon at Shenanigans. #rotary #rotary5020#makingadifference
