Thanks to All

Tacoma North Rotary club's annual Oktoberfest event on Friday October 6 was a great success thanks to the generous support of our friends and guests.  The proceeds will, among other things, bring our iPads for Autism initiative to successful conclusion.

The Tacoma North Rotary mission focuses especially on youth.  Some of our efforts include:

-iPads for classrooms of autistic kids

-College scholarships for minority students through Palmer Scholars Foundation

-Bicycles for kids in partnership with the boys and girls clubs

-Weekend food backpacks for disadvantaged students in partnership with Food Connection at St Leo's

-School supplies for disadvantaged students

-Support for the fight to eradicate polio through the Rotary International Polio Plus Program:

iPads for Autism is an ongoing effort to provide iPads for use in the Tacoma School District autism classrooms, a service that recent experimental programs  at Mary Lyon and Jennie Reed schools found to be a very successful learning tool for these special needs students.  This year’s effort will complete the initial project for the Tacoma School district.  See the Tacoma School District story on this project on the Tacoma Public Schools website at
